The brief was to create a farm stay environment at a peaceful property outside the township of Woodend. 'Very Special Kids' had acquired a tranquil 33 hectare site from generous farmers Janet and Bernard Hawkins. 'Very Special Kids' proposed to provide free respite holiday accommodation to families of children with life-threatening illnesses. The accommodation was to incorporate disabled facilities within a comfortable, modern, family, holiday, farm cottage design. After determining the best energy of the site, we designed four cottages and a barn that was incorporated as a meeting place and recreational hub.
